Cost Controller / Estimator (Electrical)
Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Estimation Responsibilities Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, and client requirements. Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical works including: o Power Distribution Systems o Substations o Switchgear & MCCs o Cable Routing & Cable Tray Systems o Lighting Systems o Earthing & Lightning Protection Systems o Instrumentation Interface Works o Industrial Electrical Installations Perform quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications. Prepare material, labor, equipment, and subcontract cost estimates. Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations. Participate in bid clarifications and tender submissions. Identify project risks, assumptions, and opportunities during the estimation stage. Cost Control Responsibilities Develop project budgets and cost control procedures. Monitor project expenditures against approved budgets. Track labor, material, equipment, and subcontract costs. Prepare cost reports, forecasts, and variance analyses. Support project managers with cost performance monitoring. Prepare monthly cost reports and management presentations. Assist in change order and variation cost assessments. Coordinate with Procurement, Finance, Planning, and Project Teams. Desired Candidate Profile Qualification Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. Professional certifications in Cost Engineering, Estimation, or Project Management are an advantage. Strong knowledge of electrical engineering standards and industrial construction practices. Experience Requirements Minimum 5–10 years of experience in Electrical Estimation and/or Cost Control. Mandatory experience working with international EPC, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Power, or Industrial Construction companies. Experience in GCC/Middle East projects is highly preferred. Proven experience in electrical construction, maintenance, shutdown, brownfield, or greenfield projects. Familiarity with project budgeting, forecasting, earned value analysis, and cost reporting. Technical Skills Strong knowledge of electrical systems and industrial installations. Ability to interpret electrical drawings, SLDs, layouts, and specifications. Advanced proficiency in MS Excel. Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms. Knowledge of estimation software and cost control tools. Strong analytical and reporting skills.
