Port Captain
Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Develop and implement operational procedures and best practices, crew utilization, and cost efficiency, Analyze performance data and prepare reports for management Overall in charge of the fleet operations and responsible for the safety, security and Regulations. Perform internal audits (office and vessel) ,Takes charge of the officer’s interview. Trains and monitors their progress. Attend vessel, do regular and routine inspections, guide crew for preparations for audits, survey, inspection and field operations Take overall care of vessel docking, special survey, audit, 3rd party inspections Monitor operational performance and optimize tug utilization, Ensure full compliance with international maritime regulations such as SOLAS, MARPOL, and the ISM Code Implement and enforce company Safety Management Systems (SMS) Conduct vessel audits, inspections, and risk assessments Lead incident investigations and implement corrective/preventive actions Conduct training programs, drills, and competency assessments Promote a strong safety culture onboard and ashore Monitor condition and performance of tug fleet Coordinate with technical/engineering teams for maintenance and repairs Minimize downtime through proactive maintenance planning Provide input for tenders and client requirements Desired Candidate Profile Minimum 8–15 years of maritime experience, including significant time on tugboats Prior experience as Master, Marine Superintendent, or Port Captain preferred Strong background in off shore operations. Knowledge of tug operations, towing equipment, and vessel handling Familiarity with international maritime regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, COLREGs, ISM Code) Understanding of maintenance systems and marine engineering basics Strong leadership with the ability to manage multi-vessel operations and diverse crews Proven experience in team supervision, training, and performance management Decision-making ability under pressure, especially during critical operations Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills Strong commitment to HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards Experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety audits Ability to enforce safety culture and compliance across all operations Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written) Ability to coordinate with port authorities, pilots, and clients Strong reporting and documentation skills Understanding of port operations, logistics, and service delivery requirements Experience in budgeting, cost control, and operational efficiency Employment Type Full Time Company Industry ShipbuildingShip RepairShip MaintenanceDrydocks Department / Functional Area Marine Services (Marine OfficerMarine EngineerShip ChandlerDiver) Keywords Port CaptainDPA MARINE OPERATIONSMaster MarinerCSOMarine ManagerMarine Superintendent Get real-time job updates only on our App
