Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Installation & Termination: Install, route, and secure shipboard cables, wireways, and cable trays. Terminate cables to various components such as switchboards, distribution panels, motors, control panels, and electronic equipment. Perform cable splicing, connections (e.g., multi-pin connectors), and soldering of electrical connections. Install and connect lighting fixtures, outlets, and other electrical equipment throughout the vessel. Maintenance & Repair: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctioning electrical systems, apparatus, and components, including motors, generators, and control systems. Perform maintenance on ship service generators, switchboards, and emergency power systems, navigation systems & shaft grounding systems Repair or replace damaged wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Testing & Inspection: Use a variety of test equipment (e.g., multimeters, megohmmeters, ammeters, vibrameters) to check continuity, insulation resistance, and system functionality. Conduct inspections of electrical systems to identify hazards, defects, or necessary adjustments, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes (e.g, National Electric Code, NAVSEA) and safety standards. Prepare and maintain accurate documentation and Electrical reports for all work performed. Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to all shipyard safety protocols, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures. Work safely in a variety of shipboard environments, including confined spaces, at heights, and in all weather conditions. Desired Candidate Profile Possess a valid certification as a Marine Electrician or equivalent recognized qualification. Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as an electrician in a maritime or offshore environment. Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing AC/DC systems, generators, motors, and control panels specific to vessels. Strong understanding of international maritime electrical regulations and safety protocols (e.g., SOLAS, ISM Code). Ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and P&IDs.
