Fire & Life Safety Engineer

Job Description Roles & Responsibilities ROLE OVERVIEW We are seeking a highly qualified Fire & Life Safety (FLS) Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience and a recognized NFPA certification to join our multidisciplinary design team. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in fire protection engineering, proven authority coordination experience in the UAE and KSA, and a track record of delivering complex large-scale developments including hospitality, high-rise, and mixed-use projects. A consultancy background is strongly preferred. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and review fire and life safety strategies for a wide range of building typologies, including residential, high-rise, hospitality, and large-scale masterplan developments. Review and coordinate fire protection systems encompassing fire alarm, sprinkler, firefighting, smoke control, emergency lighting, evacuation routes, and fire-rated compartmentation. Ensure full compliance with NFPA standards, UAE Civil Defence, Saudi Civil Defense regulations, and relevant local authority requirements. Lead authority coordination and submission processes, preparing compliance studies, fire life safety reports, and official submission documents. Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities to proactively resolve fire safety design challenges. Conduct performance-based fire engineering assessments for complex or non-standard building designs. Support and oversee site inspections, system testing, commissioning, and project handover activities. Manage multiple project deliverables simultaneously, maintaining quality and meeting deadlines across concurrent commissions. Leverage AI tools and digital workflow solutions to enhance design efficiency, coordination, and reporting quality. Desired Candidate Profile Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Fire & Life Safety engineering, with a preference for candidates from a design consultancy background. Valid NFPA certification; CFPS (Certified Fire Protection Specialist) is highly advantageous. PMP certification is a plus for coordination-intensive roles. Proven experience across residential, high-rise, hospitality, and mixed-use developments. Demonstrated experience in authority coordination with UAE Civil Defence and Saudi Civil Defense. Strong working knowledge of NFPA codes, Civil Defense approval processes, and performance-based fire engineering principles. Experience in design review, technical coordination, authority submissions, and construction-stage site support. Experience in GCC/UAE/KSA projects is essential; familiarity with regional authority processes and local code variations is required. Excellent communication, coordination, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
