HSE Officer (Joinery/Wood Works) For Maldives
Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Implement and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and safe work practices. Conduct regular inspections of workshops, machinery, tools, storage areas, and project sites. Identify hazards related to woodworking operations, including machine safety, wood dust, chemicals, paints, adhesives, and manual handling activities. Carry out risk assessments and recommend corrective and preventive actions. Ensure compliance with local regulations, company standards, and client HSE requirements. Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, and HSE training programs. Monitor the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; prepare detailed reports. Maintain HSE documentation, records, permits, and inspection reports. Coordinate emergency response drills and ensure emergency equipment is adequately maintained. Monitor housekeeping standards and waste management practices. Liaise with project managers, supervisors, and workforce to ensure safety compliance across all operations. Support ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems, where applicable. Desired Candidate Profile Education Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. Experience Minimum 3 years of HSE experience in joinery, woodworking, carpentry, furniture manufacturing, or wood processing industries. Experience working in manufacturing workshops and/or fit-out projects is preferred. Certifications NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, or equivalent HSE certification. First Aid and Fire Safety training certificates are an advantage. Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and industry best practices. Understanding of woodworking machinery and associated safety risks. Knowledge of wood dust control, chemical handling, fire prevention, and occupational health hazards. Excellent communication and training skills. Strong incident investigation and risk assessment capabilities. Proficient in MS Office and report preparation. Ability to work independently and maintain a proactive safety culture.
