Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Develop mechanical designs including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting systems, based on project specifications and applicable codes. Perform load calculations using design software (HAP or equivalent) and determine equipment capacities and duct/piping sizes. Identify design and constructability issues and raise RFIs. Prepare design drawings, schematics, and single-line diagrams for all mechanical systems in coordination with architectural and structural layouts. Review design drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with project and authority standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, CIBSE). Select and specify HVAC and plumbing equipment, including chillers, FAHUs, AHUs, FCUs, pumps, valves, and control devices. Prepare BOQs, technical specifications, and design reports. Coordinate with consultants, clients, and other disciplines (electrical, civil, architectural) to resolve technical issues and ensure proper integration of services. Prepare shop drawings to ensure compliance with approved design intent and authority requirements. Liaise with local authorities (QCDD & Kahramaa, etc.) for design approvals, NOCs, and compliance verification. Able to identify the Value Engineering & cost saving opportunities. Participate in BIM coordination meetings and ensure mechanical services are properly routed and clash-free. Support the QA/QC team in reviewing inspection and testing procedures from a design compliance perspective. Ensure all designs are properly documented, updated, and controlled according to ISO quality procedures. Prepare as-built documentation and final design reports for project handover. Assist in commissioning plan preparation and system performance validation as per design criteria. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of authority regulations, energy efficiency requirements, and new design technologies. Desired Candidate Profile Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university. UPDA/MMUP Certified Mechanical Engineer Grade A (Mandatory) QCDD Approved Other certification like NFPA, ASHRAE, LEED/ESTIDAMA 10 to 15 years of experience in mechanical system design for High rise commercial, residential & hospitality building. Minimum 8-10 years of GCC experience. Strong technical background in HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting system design in accordance with international and local authority standards (QCDD & Kahramaa, etc.). Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of design software such as HAP, Elite.
