Safety Officer

Job Description Roles & Responsibilities A Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment by implementing safety policies, conducting inspections, and promoting compliance with occupational health and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities Implement and enforce company health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures. Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify hazards and unsafe practices. Ensure compliance with local safety regulations, client requirements, and company standards. Carry out risk assessments and recommend corrective and preventive measures. Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness training for employees and subcontractors. Monitor the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure its availability. Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and prepare detailed reports. Maintain safety records, permits, inspection reports, and incident documentation. Monitor high-risk activities such as working at heights, lifting operations, excavation work, confined space entry, and hot work. Coordinate emergency response procedures, fire drills, and evacuation exercises. Ensure safety signages, emergency equipment, and first-aid facilities are maintained and accessible. Liaise with project managers, supervisors, clients, and regulatory authorities on safety matters. Stop any unsafe work activities that pose immediate danger to personnel, equipment, or the environment. Promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization.
