Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Strategy Development and Implementation Sets out EGA's Safety and Governance strategy and framework based on EGA's overall ESG & Sustainability strategy, purpose, bold aspirations, and values. Directs the implementation of the functional strategy ensuring alignment to group strategy, EGA's vision, mission, and corporate objectives. Ensures that functional strategy and related strategic plans are developed and implemented, aligned with the organization's vision and mission. Provides subject matter expertise for the assigned domain and counsels EGA leadership on related matters to support achievement of corporate and functional strategies. Shares the approved strategy with local/legal authorities, where appropriate, to obtain feedback as part of continuous improvement. Leadership Manages the effective achievement of functional objectives through leadership, performance management, and team development. Establishes SMART KPIs for departments to measure individual and departmental performance against company objectives and values. Leads talent development initiatives in collaboration with discipline experts to ensure business capability. Acts as a role model by promoting organizational values and ethics across the function. Oversees effective coordination with other departments to ensure timely information flow and service delivery. Budgeting and Financial Performance Oversees the consolidation and recommendation of the functional budget. Monitors financial performance against budget to identify cost reduction opportunities and performance improvements. Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures Develops company-wide safety policies, processes, and procedures and monitors their effectiveness. Implements corporate procedures and guidelines across the business. Communicates relevant safety and governance information to ensure management remains informed of initiatives and changes. Safety Governance Leads the development of a comprehensive governance framework for safety management across EGA. Oversees implementation of safety policies, systems, procedures, and controls to ensure legislative and procedural compliance. Provides expert guidance to management on safety roles and responsibilities. Ensures implementation, review, updating, and auditing of EGA safety systems. Monitors safety system procedures and updates them in line with legislative and organizational changes. Plans, leads, and coordinates safety improvement projects across all EGA sites. Leads safety meetings and inspections to ensure compliance and corrective actions. Plans and conducts safety and compliance audits. Develops, implements, manages, and maintains comprehensive safety programs. Provides guidance to site management to ensure compliance with local regulations and EGA standards. EGA Site Safety Leads day-to-day safety operations across all EGA sites. Reviews and stops operations or activities that may endanger employees. Drives proactive initiatives to minimize workplace injuries and accidents. Leads major incident investigations and oversees investigation reporting. Reviews accident and incident reports. Plans and organizes safety training programs for all organizational levels. Reviews and enhances safety training programs. Conducts safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance. Analyses accident and incident trends and recommends improvement plans. Provides safety advice and support to area management. International Safety Develops and implements training programs covering international safety standards. Leads safety awareness initiatives through workshops, seminars, and communication campaigns. Implements and maintains standardized reporting systems for safety incidents and compliance. Reviews and updates safety procedures to align with international standards and regulations. Promotes continuous improvement through employee feedback. Monitors compliance across international operations through audits and inspections. Stakeholder Management Develops and maintains effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders while ensuring high standards of business ethics and timely resolution of critical issues. Safety, Quality & Environment Ensures compliance with all relevant safety, quality, and environmental policies, procedures, and controls to protect employees, meet legislative requirements, and support environmental responsibility. Change Management Leads change management through continuous improvement of systems, processes, and practices while considering global standards and business changes. Reporting Ensures all functional reports are prepared accurately, on time, and in accordance with EGA requirements, policies, and quality standards. Authority / Decision Making Authority Acts within clearly defined policies, standards, and specific objectives. Decision Making Identifies critical factors affecting decision outcomes. Evaluates options accurately and establishes priorities. Anticipates outcomes and understands logical consequences. Navigates risk and uncertainty effectively. Applies sound judgment in situations requiring quantitative analysis. Desired Candidate Profile Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline such as Safety Management or HSSE. Professional Certification or Diploma in Safety Management. Lead Auditor certification. Minimum Experience 12 years of safety experience in an industrial environment, including at least 4 years in a safety management role. Skills & Abilities Risk assessment and management. Knowledge of administrative policies and procedures. Familiarity with project and departmental budgeting processes and tools. Knowledge of project controls. Conceptual planning ability. Conflict management and problem-solving skills. Strong leadership capability. Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Effective communication, meeting facilitation, and presentation skills. Proficiency with time reporting systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to design and deliver training programs. Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
