Procurement Engineer

Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Procurement Engineer to manage the procurement process for construction and steel fabrication projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing materials, obtaining competitive quotations, negotiating with suppliers, preparing purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery of materials while maintaining quality and budget requirements. Key Responsibilities Procurement & Sourcing Review project specifications, drawings, and material requirements. Identify and evaluate suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors. Obtain and analyze quotations from multiple vendors. Prepare comparison sheets and recommend cost-effective procurement solutions. Issue Purchase Orders (POs) and monitor order status. Vendor Management Develop and maintain strong relationships with approved suppliers. Conduct supplier evaluations and performance assessments. Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules. Source alternative suppliers to achieve cost savings and reduce procurement risks. Project Coordination Coordinate with Engineering, Planning, Production, and Site teams regarding material requirements. Ensure timely procurement of structural steel, bolts, welding consumables, paint systems, hardware, and project-specific materials. Track material deliveries and resolve supply chain issues. Cost Control & Documentation Monitor procurement budgets and achieve cost-saving targets. Maintain procurement records, contracts, supplier databases, and purchase logs. Prepare procurement reports, material tracking reports, and management updates. Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and project specifications. Quality & Compliance Verify materials comply with approved specifications and project requirements. Coordinate with QA/QC teams for material approvals and inspections. Ensure all procurement activities comply with company procedures and contractual obligations. Requirements Education Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field. Experience Minimum 4-8 years of Procurement experience in Construction, Structural Steel Fabrication, PEB, or Engineering projects. UAE/GCC experience preferred. Experience handling local and international suppliers. Technical Skills Strong knowledge of procurement procedures and supply chain management. Ability to read engineering drawings and technical specifications. Experience with ERP systems and procurement software. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools. Strong negotiation and contract management skills. Soft Skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects. Good organizational and time-management skills. Desired Candidate Profile Experience in Structural Steel Fabrication, Steel Erection, PEB, Construction, or Industrial Projects. Strong supplier network within UAE and GCC markets. Proven ability to achieve procurement cost savings. Experience handling project-based procurement and material planning. Immediate joiners will be preferred.
