Job Description Roles & Responsibilities The Ironmongery Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed estimates and quotations, reviewing project specifications, and providing technical and commercial support throughout the tendering and project lifecycle. The role requires close coordination with sales, procurement, operations, contractors, consultants, and suppliers to ensure accurate pricing, technical compliance, and timely project execution. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of architectural ironmongery, door hardware systems, fire-rated door assemblies, and construction documentation. Responsibilities Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and commercial quotations based on project drawings, specifications, BOQs, tender documents, and client requirements. Review and interpret architectural and technical drawings, door schedules, ironmongery schedules, master key schedules, door types, door constructions, and fire-rating requirements. Develop and prepare technical submissions, compliance documentation, schedules, and project-related reports in accordance with project specifications and regulatory standards. Recommend suitable architectural ironmongery and door hardware solutions that meet project specifications, functional requirements, and Civil Defence regulations. Ensure all project requirements, exclusions, assumptions, conditions, and compliance obligations are clearly identified and incorporated into quotations and tender submissions. Coordinate with architects, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal departments to obtain technical information, clarify requirements, and ensure estimation accuracy. Manage prequalification submissions and maintain compliance with client, consultant, and project-specific requirements. Prepare and maintain sales reports, order forms, technical documents, and project-related records. Handle customer enquiries and provide technical and commercial support by recommending appropriate products and solutions. Coordinate sales and project activities, monitor progress, and support the timely execution and delivery of projects. Collaborate closely with sales, procurement, and operations teams to ensure effective communication, efficient workflow, and successful project outcomes. Support the sales team in achieving departmental objectives, revenue targets, and customer satisfaction goals. Stay updated on industry developments, building regulations, fire-door standards, product innovations, and best practices within the architectural ironmongery sector. Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills while managing multiple projects and deadlines. Maintain a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and professionalism in all estimates, technical documentation, and project correspondence. Desired Candidate Profile Higher Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline. Minimum 3–5 years of estimation experience within the architectural ironmongery, door hardware, joinery, interiors, fit-out, or construction industry. Proven experience in preparing technical submissions, door schedules, hardware schedules, BOQs, and project quotations. Sound understanding of fire-door regulations, building codes, and architectural ironmongery standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and estimation/document management software. Experience working with contractors, consultants, architects, and suppliers in a project-based environment is highly desirable.
