Work preparator -Ship Repair
Job Description Roles & Responsibilities · Review repair specifications, docking reports, class recommendations, drawings, and client requirements to prepare structural work packages. · Conduct onboard inspections and site visits to assess steel renewal, structural modifications, and repair requirements. · Prepare detailed job cards, work instructions, cutting lists, steel renewal plans, and material take-offs (MTOs). · Identify structural repair requirements including hull steel renewal, deck repairs, bulkhead repairs, foundations, stiffeners, brackets, and supporting structures. · Coordinate with Production, Planning, Engineering, QA/QC, and Procurement teams to ensure project readiness. · Prepare manpower, equipment, scaffolding, and material requirements for structural repair activities. · Support procurement by providing technical specifications and material requirements for steel and structural components. · Coordinate fabrication and installation sequences to optimize productivity and minimize project delays. · Monitor structural repair progress and provide technical support to production and fabrication teams. · Liaise with clients, classification societies, surveyors, and project teams regarding repair scope and inspection requirements. · Assist in preparing variation work scopes and estimates for additional repair works identified during execution. · Ensure all structural repair activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, class requirements, and applicable standards. · Maintain accurate records of work packages, steel renewals, material consumption, and project documentation. · Support dry-docking, vessel conversion, and emergency repair projects as required. · Ensure compliance with company quality standards, safety procedures, and project requirements. Desired Candidate Profile Education: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field. · Experience: Minimum 5–8 years of experience as a Work Preparator, Structural Supervisor, Structural Foreman, or similar role within ship repair or shipyard environments. · Strong knowledge of ship structural repairs, steel renewals, hull structures, decks, bulkheads, tanks, and marine fabrication. · Experience in preparing structural work packages, job cards, MTOs, and repair procedures. · Familiarity with dry-docking activities and classification society requirements. · Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, ship repair specifications, and class-approved repair sketches. · Proficient in MS Office and engineering documentation systems. · Strong planning, coordination, and problem-solving skills. · Fluency in English (mandatory).
