Buyer – Logistics

Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Logistics Procurement Source, evaluate, negotiate, and manage contracts with freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs brokers, and international logistics providers. Procure import and export logistics services for raw materials, machinery, and finished goods moving to and from the UAE. Lead sourcing activities for air freight, sea freight, road transportation, customs clearance, warehousing, and related logistics services. Manage procurement of local transportation and last-mile delivery services across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. Conduct competitive tenders, RFQs, RFPs, and contract negotiations to achieve optimal commercial and service outcomes. Develop sourcing strategies that improve service levels while reducing logistics costs. Supplier Management Establish and maintain strategic relationships with logistics service providers across the GCC and international markets. Monitor supplier performance through KPIs including on-time delivery, transit times, service quality, claims management, and cost competitiveness. Conduct supplier reviews and implement corrective actions where required. Identify and onboard alternative logistics providers to ensure business continuity and supply chain resilience. Cost and Contract Management Drive cost optimization through rate benchmarking, contract negotiations, and consolidation strategies. Monitor market trends and freight indices to identify cost-saving opportunities. Track logistics spend and support budgeting and forecasting activities. Ensure contracts are maintained, renewed, and compliant with company policies. Deliver annual cost reduction and value improvement initiatives. Operational Support Collaborate with Supply Chain, Production, Sales, and Warehouse teams to support operational requirements. Resolve logistics service issues, delays, claims, and supplier disputes. Support inventory optimization by ensuring reliable inbound and outbound transportation services. Ensure compliance with customs, trade regulations, and local transportation requirements across operating countries. Ensure on-time movement of materials from supplier to plant, minimizing delays and demurrage Reporting and continuous improvement Prepare procurement reports covering logistics spend, savings, supplier performance, and market trends. Analyse transportation data and identify opportunities for process improvements. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance logistics efficiency and customer service levels. Desired Candidate Profile Minimum 5 years of procurement experience, preferably within manufacturing, industrial, construction materials, or related sectors. Proven experience sourcing and managing logistics services, freight forwarding, and transportation contracts. Experience managing import and export logistics into and out of the UAE. Strong knowledge of GCC logistics markets, including UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. Experience conducting tenders and negotiating logistics service agreements. Knowledge and Skills Strong understanding of international freight, customs processes, and GCC transportation networks. Excellent commercial negotiation and supplier management skills. Strong analytical and cost management capabilities. Ability to manage multiple suppliers and projects simultaneously. Knowledge of Incoterms, freight pricing structures, and logistics contracting practices. Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Fluent in English; Arabic is an advantage.
