Staff Nurse

Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Key Responsibilities: Direct Patient Care: Staff nurses provide hands-on care, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, assisting with daily activities, and ensuring patient comfort. Patient Assessment: They assess patients' needs, observe and interpret symptoms, and communicate findings to the healthcare team. Care Planning: Staff nurses collaborate with other professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients. Medication Administration: They administer medications as prescribed by physicians and monitor for any adverse reactions. Patient and Family Education: Staff nurses educate patients and their families about illnesses, treatments, and preventative care. Maintaining a Safe Environment: They ensure a clean and safe environment for patients, including maintaining equipment and following infection control protocols. Documentation: Staff nurses accurately document patient information, care provided, and any changes in patient status. Collaboration and Communication: They work as part of a multidisciplinary team, communicating effectively with physicians, other nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Supervision: In some settings, they may supervise or mentor other nursing staff, such as licensed practical nurses or nursing assistants. Emergency Response: They provide immediate care in emergency situations and follow established protocols. Professional Development: Staff nurses stay up-to-date on the latest healthcare practices and procedures through continuing education and professional development activities.
