QC Inspector( steel fabrication)
Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Quality Inspector The Quality Inspector shall be responsible for monitoring and verifying that all fabrication, welding, dimensional control, surface preparation, and painting activities are carried out in accordance with the approved drawings, project specifications, applicable codes and standards, and approved quality procedures. The Quality Inspector's responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to: Reviewing approved shop drawings, specifications, inspection procedures, and relevant standards before inspection activities. Inspecting incoming materials and verifying material identification, traceability, and compliance with approved material requirements. Monitoring fabrication operations to ensure compliance with approved production and quality requirements. Performing fit-up inspections, welding inspections, dimensional checks, and visual inspections of fabricated bridge components. Conducting dimensional verification using measuring equipment such as tapes, levels, alignment gauges, dumpy levels, and total stations. Inspecting surface preparation, abrasive blasting, and painting activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and approved painting procedures. Witnessing and recording inspection and test results, including dimensions, temperatures, coating thicknesses, and other quality-related data. Identifying and reporting non-conformities and assisting in the implementation of corrective actions. Coordinating inspection activities with production personnel, welding supervisors, and QA/QC engineers. Ensuring that only calibrated inspection and measuring equipment are used during inspection and testing activities. Preparing and maintaining inspection reports, quality records, checklists, and other QA/QC documentation required by the project. Verifying compliance with AWS D1.5, project specifications, approved procedures, and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs). The Quality Inspector shall report directly to the QA/QC Engineer and support the implementation of the project quality management system throughout the execution of the works.
