Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Job Purpose Lead end-to-end execution of a greenfield Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) manufacturing plant within a larger multi-product chemical cluster, acting as the single-point accountability owner from detailed engineering through mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and Performance Guarantee Test Run (PGTR), ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery to the highest safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities • Own and drive the Project Master Schedule for mechanical completion and trial production; monitor critical path and implement recovery plans. • Coordinate with the technology licensor, EPC contractor, Owner's PMC, and in-house engineering teams across all project phases. • Review and approve engineering deliverables: PFDs, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, GA drawings, plot plans, and 3D model reviews; ensure compliance with IS, ASME, API, NFPA, PESO, and CCOE standards. • Coordinate HAZOP, SIL studies, and safety reviews; track recommendations to closure. • Oversee procurement of long-lead equipment (reactors, distillation columns, heat exchangers, compressors, DCS/PLC); drive vendor evaluation, TBE, expediting, and third-party inspections, including international OEMs. • Supervise civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation construction; enforce construction quality plans, welding specifications, and NDT requirements. • Manage site HSE plan – PTW, toolbox talks, audits, and incident investigation; ensure compliance with Factories Act, Environment Protection Act, and Hazardous Waste Rules. • Interface with OSBL/Utilities and Hydrogen Generation project teams for battery-limit tie-ins, utility connections, and shared infrastructure integration. • Provide direct input into design, process choices, and equipment selection. • Lead pre-commissioning, commissioning, catalyst loading, initial start-up, and PGTR; ensure seamless handover to operations with complete as-built documentation. • Manage project within approved CAPEX budget; track commitments, actuals, EAC; prepare monthly cost reports, cash-flow projections, and variance analysis for Board review. • Ensure timely procurement of statutory approvals: CTE/CTO, Factory License, PESO, Boiler Registration, Electrical Inspector, Fire NOC, and Environmental Clearance. • Build, lead, and mentor the owner's project team (Process, Mechanical, E&I, Civil, QA/QC, Planning, HSE); support HR in recruitment of the O&M team for early operator training. • Chair weekly project review meetings and prepare MIS reports for senior management and the Chairman's office. Desired Candidate Profile Education BE / BTech in Chemical Engineering from a recognized university; ME / MTech in Chemical Engineering or MBA/PG in Project Management preferred. Key Skills IPA / petrochemical process knowledge (propylene hydration, acetone hydrogenation, distillation), greenfield project execution (FEED to commissioning), EPC/LSTK/EPCM contract management, project controls, HAZOP/SIL/process safety, Indian and international codes (IS, BIS, ASME, API, NFPA, PESO, CCOE, OISD), DCS/PLC/SIS systems, CAPEX budgeting and cost control, multi-disciplinary team leadership, and Board-level reporting and stakeholder management. Desirable • Direct experience in IPA manufacturing or closely adjacent solvents. • Prior experience in IPA, isopropanol, solvent, or petrochemical plant projects. • At least 2–3 greenfield chemical plant projects executed end-to-end as Project Head/Manager. • Experience managing projects with CAPEX in the range of INR 100–500 Crore. • Familiarity with international technology licensors for the IPA process. • Exposure to Owner's Engineer / PMC model of project execution. • Experience working with Chinese/European OEMs for equipment procurement. • Indian nationals with global plant experience especially relevant; expat contract considered.
