Internal Auditor – Catering Industry Experience Preferred
Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Develop and execute comprehensive audit plans focused on financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and compliance within catering operations. Assess the effectiveness of internal controls related to food safety, inventory management, waste reduction, and procurement in catering environments. Investigate potential instances of fraud, waste, and abuse within catering service delivery and supply chain processes. Evaluate the adherence to health, safety, and sanitation regulations specific to food handling and service in catering. Analyze cost structures and profitability of various catering services, identifying areas for cost optimization and revenue enhancement. Conduct surprise audits of inventory levels, stock rotation, and wastage to ensure accuracy and prevent shrinkage. Review contracts with suppliers and clients to ensure terms are met and financial implications are accurately recorded. Test the integrity of sales data, cash handling procedures, and point-of-sale systems in catering outlets. Provide actionable recommendations to management for improving controls, operational processes, and financial performance in the catering sector. Prepare detailed audit reports, communicating findings and proposed solutions clearly and concisely to senior leadership. Desired Candidate Profile Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is essential for building a strong financial foundation. Professional certifications such as CIA, CPA, or CISA demonstrate a commitment to audit excellence and ethical standards. Proven experience (3-5 years) in internal audit, with a significant portion focused on the catering or hospitality industry. Strong understanding of catering operations, including food costing, inventory management, and service delivery models. Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, ACL, IDEA) for extracting insights from financial and operational data. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to dissect complex catering business processes and identify risks. Detail-oriented approach with a keen eye for discrepancies in financial records and operational procedures. Integrity and objectivity are paramount to ensure unbiased and reliable audit findings and recommendations. Ability to work independently and manage multiple audit projects simultaneously in a fast-paced catering environment. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effectively interacting with diverse stakeholders across catering operations.
