Assistant Safety Officer

Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Assist in implementing and maintaining workplace health and safety policies and procedures. Conduct regular workplace safety inspections and identify potential hazards. Support risk assessments and recommend corrective and preventive actions. Monitor compliance with local health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations. Assist in investigating workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses. Maintain safety records, reports, and documentation. Conduct safety inductions and awareness training for employees and contractors. Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Participate in emergency response planning, fire drills, and evacuation exercises. Monitor housekeeping standards and safe work practices. Assist with safety audits and inspections by regulatory authorities or clients. Report safety concerns to the Safety Officer or HSE Manager and follow up on corrective actions. Desired Candidate Profile Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, OSHA certification, or equivalent (preferred or required depending on the employer). 1–3 years of experience in occupational health and safety or a related field. Knowledge of HSE regulations, risk assessment, and incident investigation. Familiarity with safety management systems and emergency response procedures. Good communication, observation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to prepare reports and maintain accurate safety records. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Team-oriented with the ability to work independently when required. First Aid and Fire Safety certification is an added advantage.
