Agronomist

Job Description Roles & Responsibilities This is a genuinely hands-on, farm-based role. You'll spend most of your time on farms and trial sites across the UAE — not behind a desk — working directly alongside our team and farm staff to set up trials, collect reliable data, and troubleshoot real agronomic problems as they come up. We're looking for someone practical, with real field experience, who wants to be out on the ground more days than not. You'll support the delivery of field and greenhouse trials: implementing trial protocols, monitoring crop performance, collecting soil and plant samples, and keeping accurate records so our science team can turn field results into real conclusions. Key Responsibilities Set up and implement field, on-farm and greenhouse trials in line with approved trial plans and protocols. Support plot layout, treatment application, crop establishment, irrigation, fertiliser application, harvests and other routine agronomic operations. Monitor crop growth, yield, plant health and trial conditions, and promptly flag issues, deviations or risks. Collect soil, substrate and plant tissue samples using agreed methods, with accurate labelling, tracking and documentation. Maintain complete field logs, treatment records, photographs and sample registers. Check data for completeness and accuracy, and prepare clear Excel tables and charts for review. Contribute to technical summaries, internal reports, presentations and site demonstrations. Coordinate with HyveGeo's science team, laboratory partners, growers and farm managers to ensure consistent trial execution. Provide practical input on site suitability, trial feasibility, logistics and scheduling. Follow health, safety, environmental and farm-site procedures during all field activities. Desired Candidate Profile Required: 3–6 years of experience in agronomy, irrigation management, crop production or applied agricultural research. Hands-on experience supporting field trials, on-farm trials or greenhouse trials. Practical understanding of crops, irrigation, fertilisers and soil-plant interactions. Ability to collect and document field data and samples accurately and consistently. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office (data tables, charts, basic analysis, report writing). Willingness and ability to work outdoors in hot, arid conditions and travel between trial sites. Valid UAE driving license and access to your own transport. Strong organisation, reliability, attention to detail and written communication skills. Nice to have: Experience with biochar, compost, biological inputs or other soil amendments. Experience with landscaping or turf trials and performance monitoring. Exposure to start-up, pilot-scale or pre-commercial research environments.
