Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Job Description – Robotics Engineer Manufacturing Industries Position Overview The Robotics Engineer is responsible for designing, programming, integrating, and maintaining robotic systems used in manufacturing processes. The role focuses on improving production efficiency, product quality, and workplace safety by implementing advanced automation and robotic technologies. Key Responsibilities Robot Programming & Integration Develop and modify programs for industrial robots (e.g., ABB, KUKA, FANUC, Yaskawa). Integrate robots into existing production lines, ensuring compatibility with PLCs, sensors, and machine controllers. Set up robotic work cells including end-effectors, safety systems, fixtures, and tooling. Maintenance & Troubleshooting Diagnose issues with robot controllers, servomotors, sensors, vision systems, and communication interfaces. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime. Analyze root causes of robot failures or performance issues and implement permanent solutions. Process Automation & Optimization Identify opportunities for automation and robotics within the manufacturing process. Improve cycle times, product consistency, and operational efficiency. Optimize robot paths, speeds, and logic to reduce energy use and increase throughput. System Design & Engineering Design robotic cells including layouts, safety guards, communication networks, and electrical/motion control wiring. Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and control engineering teams on equipment specifications. Support installation and commissioning of new robotic systems and automation equipment. Safety Compliance Ensure compliance with industrial safety standards (ISO, OSHA, CE). Conduct risk assessments for robotic cells and implement safety interlocks and emergency stops. Prepare safety documentation, lockout/tagout procedures, and technical manuals. Documentation & Reporting Maintain records of robot performance, alarms, cycle times, and maintenance activities. Develop training materials and train operators/technicians on robot operation and safety. Prepare automation improvement reports and cost-benefit analyses. Key Skills & Competencies Strong expertise in industrial robotic systems (FANUC / ABB / KUKA / Yaskawa / Mitsubishi). Skilled in robot programming languages (RAPID, KRL, KAREL, TP programming, etc.). Knowledge of PLCs, vision systems, sensors, SCADA, and motion control. Hands-on experience with mechanical systems, pneumatics, and end-effector design. Strong analytical and problem-solving ability. Understanding of manufacturing workflows and process engineering. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Automation Engineering. 5–10 years of industrial experience in automation or robotics . Experience in heavy industry, automotive, metal processing, electronics, or general manufacturing preferred. Work Environment Industrial/manufacturing floor with machinery, conveyors, and robotic cells. Requires occasional extended hours during system commissioning or breakdowns. Close coordination with production, maintenance, quality, and safety teams. Desired Candidate Profile .
