Computer Programmer

Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Responsibilities Design and modify existing programs and data structures; provide for proper maintenance of assigned programs; perform analysis and modification of existing programs and operations to meet changing needs and to provide for system enhancements. Design, program, code and analyze new computer programs and data structures in accordance with specifications and user needs, including screen formats and job control language procedures in accordance with programming standards. Assist other programmers with complex programming projects and needs; serve as Project Leader as assigned. Maintain file structures used in programs; maintain flow charts or narrative description of program flow, purpose and operation. Examine output data from program operations to verify and assure accuracy and completeness of data; test and de-bug programs to assure reliability of program operations. Maintain contact with users to analyze system performance and efficiency; provide training support and consult with users to discuss desired output and user expectation. Maintain current knowledge of developments, issues and advancements in data processing equipment and software. Write and maintain program and system operations documentation for users and operators; assure documentation contains steps to initiate programs and routines to remedy interruptions in program runs. Consult with information systems staff regarding system design, problems and developments and other related matters; assist other staff with system design phase of new applications. Job Requirements: Bachelor s degree in computer science or information technology. One to three years of experience in software development. Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, C++. Experience with HTML, PHP, JavaScript. Experience using Visual Studio. Certification in Microsoft or Oracle is advantageous. Up to date on the latest software innovations and committed to continually building on existing knowledge and skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to spot tiny errors or inconsistencies in code. A desire to innovate and create cutting edge programs. Understanding of object-oriented software engineering. Track record of successful application development. Ability to write clean, well-documented code. Working knowledge of SQL and Microsoft SQL Server. Solid troubleshooting skills. Experience using Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Visio). Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking abilities. Excellent complex problem solving and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication skills and ability to work with a team. Exemplify superior time management skills and capable of working productively with minimal supervision.
