Construction Manager - Electrical
Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Lead and manage all electrical construction activities for the PS-01 pumping station rehabilitation project. Plan and supervise electrical installation works in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements and project schedules. Manage electrical works associated with MV/LV distribution systems, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, distribution boards and motor feeders. Supervise installation, testing and commissioning of electrical systems serving large pumping station equipment. Oversee installation and termination of MV/LV power and control cables, cable trays, cable ladders, conduits and containment systems. Coordinate electrical interfaces with mechanical pumps, motors, HVAC, fire protection, instrumentation, control and SCADA systems. Review electrical shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, ITPs, technical submittals and construction documentation. Ensure all electrical works are executed in accordance with project specifications, approved drawings, applicable international standards and UAE authority requirements. Coordinate closely with the Project Manager, Engineering Manager, QA/QC, HSE, commissioning team, consultant, client, subcontractors and specialist vendors. Manage electrical subcontractors, supervisors, engineers, technicians and site resources. Monitor daily construction progress and ensure electrical activities remain aligned with the overall project programme. Identify construction constraints, technical issues and interface problems and ensure timely resolution. Coordinate shutdowns, isolations and tie-in activities associated with the rehabilitation of existing electrical infrastructure. Ensure brownfield electrical works are executed safely with minimum disruption to existing operational systems. Review and coordinate electrical load schedules, single-line diagrams, cable schedules, equipment layouts and protection/control schematics. Supervise installation and testing of earthing, bonding, lightning protection and electrical protection systems. Coordinate installation and testing of lighting, small power, emergency lighting and other auxiliary electrical systems. Coordinate with instrumentation and control teams for interfaces involving PLC, SCADA, RTU, telemetry and motor control systems. Coordinate FAT, SAT, pre-commissioning, commissioning and performance testing of electrical equipment and systems. Ensure completion of inspection requests, test records, punch lists and commissioning dossiers. Monitor material requirements and coordinate with procurement and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of electrical equipment and materials. Ensure electrical works comply with approved QA/QC procedures, ITPs, inspection requirements and HSE standards. Participate in technical meetings, progress meetings and coordination meetings with the client and consultant. Support preparation of progress reports, look-ahead schedules and construction status updates. Ensure proper completion of as-built drawings, testing records, O&M manuals and handover documentation. Provide technical leadership and mentoring to the electrical construction team. Desired Candidate Profile Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university. Minimum 15 years of overall electrical engineering/construction experience. Minimum 8–10 years in a construction management/leadership position. Proven experience in pumping stations, wastewater treatment plants, water infrastructure, utilities, industrial facilities or major MEP/EPC projects. Strong experience in MV/LV electrical systems and electrical power distribution. Experience with transformers, MV/LV switchgear, MCCs, protection systems, motor feeders and electrical control systems. Strong knowledge of electrical installation, testing and commissioning. Experience managing electrical subcontractors, vendors and site teams. Experience working on brownfield rehabilitation, refurbishment or upgrade projects will be highly preferred. UAE/GCC project experience is highly desirable. Experience with major utility/water authority projects in Abu Dhabi will be an advantage. Strong knowledge of construction safety, QA/QC and project documentation requirements. Good knowledge of MS Office; familiarity with Primavera P6 and AutoCAD is preferred.
