Consultant System Studies Engineer

Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Perform and lead power system studies and analysis for EHV/HV substations, FACTS, and HVDC projects. Develop, review, and maintain electrical network models for power system studies. Conduct various power system studies, including system performance, network analysis, and related technical assessments. Perform simulations using industry-standard tools such as PSS/E, EMTDC/PSCAD, MATLAB, and Mathcad. Analyse power system behaviour and provide technical recommendations based on study results. Apply relevant IEC and IEEE standards in power system studies, equipment selection, and engineering activities. Evaluate the application of power electronics technologies, particularly HVDC and FACTS, in HV/EHV power systems. Provide technical input for the selection, sizing, specification, and integration of major electrical equipment. Review and assess the technical requirements of equipment including: Power Transformers Capacitors Reactors Instrument Transformers Measuring Equipment Circuit Breakers Disconnectors Surge Arresters Ensure appropriate equipment selection and sizing based on customer functional specifications and project requirements. Review engineering calculations, technical reports, study results, and design documentation. Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, consultants, and other project stakeholders. Provide technical support during project execution and address engineering queries related to power system studies. Contribute to the preparation and review of technical specifications, reports, calculations, and project deliverables. Ensure all engineering activities comply with applicable technical standards, project specifications, and quality requirements. Desired Candidate Profile Master’s Degree in Power Systems, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent discipline from a reputed university. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering. Specialization in Power Systems, HVDC, FACTS, or High Voltage Engineering will be preferred. Experience Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in Power System Studies. Extensive experience in power system studies for EHV/HV Substations, FACTS, and HVDC projects. Strong experience in electrical network modelling, simulation, and analysis. Hands-on experience with PSS/E, EMTDC/PSCAD, MATLAB, and/or Mathcad. Experience in the selection, sizing, and integration of major HV/EHV electrical equipment. Technical Skills & Knowledge Extensive knowledge of Power System Studies and Electrical Network Modelling. Strong understanding of HV/EHV power systems and substations. Knowledge of IEC and IEEE standards. Good understanding of HVDC and FACTS technologies and their application in power systems. Strong knowledge of electrical equipment and their functions, including transformers, reactors, capacitors, instrument transformers, circuit breakers, disconnectors, surge arresters, and measuring equipment. Ability to interpret customer functional specifications and translate them into appropriate equipment selection and sizing requirements. Strong analytical, technical problem-solving, and engineering calculation skills. Preferred Skills Experience working on international HV/EHV, HVDC, and FACTS projects. Strong technical report writing and documentation skills. Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary and multicultural project teams. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to manage multiple technical activities and deliverables within project timelines.
