Customer Support Engineer
Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Job Description We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Customer Support Engineer to join our engineering team based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The role is responsible for providing technical support and engineering solutions for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) gas turbines, generators, control systems, and associated auxiliary equipment across the Middle East region. The Customer Support Engineer serves as the primary technical interface between customers and internal engineering, field service, repair, and commercial teams to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of customer assets. The role supports customers throughout the equipment lifecycle, including commissioning, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, planned and forced outages and emergency response. Key Responsibilities Provide technical support for MHI gas turbines, generators, control systems, and auxiliary equipment during operation, commissioning, inspections, outages, and emergency situations. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, and auxiliary system issues using sound engineering principles. Perform on-site engineering support during commissioning, inspections, maintenance activities, outages, and technical review meetings. Prepare technical reports, procedures, specifications, recommendations, presentations, and other engineering documentation. Respond to customer technical inquiries and provide timely engineering solutions. Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations and recommend corrective and preventive actions. Coordinate with customers, field service teams, engineering, repair, and commercial departments to resolve technical issues. Maintain technical records and project documentation in accordance with company procedures. Support technical proposals, procurement activities, and engineering evaluations as required. Develop and improve engineering procedures, standards, and best practices to enhance equipment reliability and operational performance. Build and maintain strong customer relationships while representing MHI during site visits, meetings, inspections, and technical discussions. Support emergency and unplanned outage activities, including travel and off-hours support when required. Comply with company Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (QHSSE) policies and maintain high standards of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality. Desired Candidate Profile Qualifications Education · Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Experience · 3–4 years of relevant experience in gas turbines, generators, rotating equipment, or power plant engineering, including operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, commissioning, or field service. · Experience providing technical customer support within the power generation industry is preferred. Technical Knowledge · Knowledge of gas turbines, generators, control systems, instrumentation, and associated auxiliary equipment. · Understanding of rotating equipment operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning. · Knowledge of engineering problem-solving techniques, Root Cause Analysis (RCA). Languages · Fluency in business English is required. Travel Willingness to travel within the Middle East and internationally to support customer sites, inspections, outages, commissioning activities, and emergency response.
