Design Engineer (Geotechnical / Piling)

Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Perform detailed geotechnical analysis and design of various piling solutions, including driven piles, bored piles, and micropiles, ensuring structural integrity and load-bearing capacity. Conduct comprehensive site investigations, interpreting soil investigation reports, and recommending appropriate foundation types and depths based on ground conditions. Develop and review structural calculations and drawings for piling foundations, adhering to relevant codes, standards, and project specifications. Utilize advanced geotechnical software (e.g., Plaxis, Geo5, WALLAP) for complex modeling and simulation of soil-structure interaction and pile behavior. Collaborate closely with project managers, construction teams, and clients to provide technical expertise and resolve design challenges during project execution. Prepare technical reports, method statements, and design documentation, clearly communicating complex geotechnical concepts and solutions. Assess and mitigate geotechnical risks associated with piling operations, including settlement, stability, and constructability issues. Provide on-site technical support during piling activities, offering solutions for unforeseen ground conditions and ensuring design compliance. Contribute to value engineering initiatives by proposing innovative and cost-effective piling designs without compromising safety or performance. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in geotechnical engineering, piling technologies, and relevant industry best practices. Desired Candidate Profile Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering. Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent international certification is highly desirable. Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in geotechnical design, with a strong focus on piling foundations. Proven proficiency in industry-standard geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, Geo5, or similar for advanced analysis. In-depth knowledge of international and local building codes and standards related to geotechnical engineering and piling. Excellent understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering principles, and pile design methodologies. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop practical solutions. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, enabling clear collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively. Familiarity with construction methods and site supervision for piling works, ensuring practical design implementation.
