HSE Engineer (OCU & WWTP)

Emarat Aloula Contracting Co. LLC is seeking an experienced HSE Engineer to support the implementation and monitoring of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements for the Odour Control Units (OCU) Project at Mafraq Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The role will be responsible for day-to-day HSE implementation across construction, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance activities within an operational wastewater treatment facility, ensuring compliance with Company procedures, Client requirements, Abu Dhabi HSE regulations and applicable Codes of Practice. Key Responsibilities Implement and monitor the Project HSE Plan, Company HSE procedures, Client requirements and applicable UAE/Abu Dhabi HSE regulations. Conduct daily site inspections, HSE audits and safety observations and ensure timely closure of identified unsafe acts, conditions and corrective actions. Review and support preparation of Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), Job Safety Analysis/JHA and other HSE documentation. Ensure effective implementation and compliance with the Permit-to-Work (PTW) system. Monitor high-risk activities including confined-space entry, hot work, excavation, lifting operations, work at height and electrical isolation/LOTO. Conduct HSE inductions, toolbox talks, safety briefings and awareness campaigns for employees and subcontractors. Participate in accident, incident and near-miss investigations, including root-cause analysis and implementation/follow-up of corrective and preventive actions. Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with approved HSE requirements and safe working practices. Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with site safety rules and approved work procedures. Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent discipline. Minimum 7 years of relevant HSE experience, preferably with significant UAE/GCC experience. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in WWTP, STP, WTP, wastewater, utilities, infrastructure, industrial/process plants or similar projects. Previous experience in Odour Control Units (OCU), Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP), Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) or similar wastewater infrastructure is highly preferred. Experience working within live/operational plants or utility facilities is strongly preferred. Good knowledge of construction, installation, testing and commissioning HSE requirements.
