Project Accountant

Overview

Pentabell is seeking a skilled Project Accountant for one of its clients. The candidate will manage project-specific financial operations, cost control, site cash flows, subcontractor invoicing, and local regulatory compliance across project sites in Baghdad and various governorates (Mohafadhat). Position: Project Accountant Summary: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Project Accountant with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in the construction or field services sector in Iraq. The candidate will manage project-specific financial operations, cost control, site cash flows, subcontractor invoicing, and local regulatory compliance across project sites in Baghdad and various governorates (Mohafadhat).

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate project ledger accounts and track expenditure against approved project budgets
• Monitor site expenses, petty cash funds, and field cash advances for construction and service operations across different governorates
• Review, verify, and process subcontractor invoices, progress claims, and supplier payments against project milestones
• Prepare monthly client invoicing based on completed project milestones, bill of quantities (BOQ), and service delivery sheets
• Process monthly local site staff payroll, site allowances, and per diems in coordination with HR and site supervisors

Requirements

Bachelor s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline Minimum 3 years of accounting experience specifically within the construction, EPC, or industrial services sector in Iraq Strong skills in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) Advanced proficiency in MS Excel Solid understanding of Iraqi tax regulations, labor/social security laws, and local commercial banking practices
