Senior Cloud Modernization & Migration Engineer

Job Description Roles & Responsibilities We are looking for a highly skilled and hands-on Cloud Modernization Engineer to support a strategic transformation initiative. The role involves modernizing existing monolithic applications in AWS, containerizing them using Kubernetes, and leading a seamless migration to Alibaba Cloud.The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in application modernization, cloud-native architectures, AI-driven efficiencies, and multi-cloud migration strategies. Key Responsibilities: Application Modernization: * Assess and analyze existing monolithic applications * Design and implement modernization strategies (re-architecting, refactoring, microservices transformation) * Apply cloud-native principles (12-factor apps, scalability, resilience) * Integrate AI/ML components where applicable to improve efficiency and automation Cloud & Containerization: * Containerize applications using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS/ACK or similar) * Build and manage scalable container orchestration platforms * Implement CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments. AWS Environment Management: Work with existing AWS workloads and services * Optimize architecture for performance, scalability, and cost * Ensure best practices in security, governance, and monitoring Migration to Alibaba Cloud: * Design and execute migration strategy from AWS to Alibaba Cloud * Map AWS services to equivalent Alibaba Cloud services * Perform workload migration with minimal downtime and risk * Optimize applications post-migration for Alibaba Cloud ecosystem AI Enablement (Value Add): * Identify opportunities to leverage AI/ML for: Application performance optimization Automation of operations Intelligent monitoring and alerting * Work with AI services across AWS and/or Alibaba Cloud where relevant. Required Skills & Experience: Core Expertise: * Application Modernization: Strong experience in transforming monolithic systems into microservices * AWS: Deep hands-on experience with AWS services and architecture * Alibaba Cloud: Proven experience or strong familiarity with Alibaba Cloud services * Kubernetes: Solid hands-on experience with Kubernetes (deployment, scaling, troubleshooting) Technical Skills: * Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes * Programming: Java / .NET / Python (at least one strong proficiency) * CI/CD: Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar * Infrastructure as Code: Terraform / CloudFormation / ROS (Alibaba) * API design & microservices architecture * Cloud networking and security AI / Advanced Capabilities (Preferred): * Exposure to AI/ML services (AWS SageMaker, Alibaba PAI, etc.) * Experience integrating AI into applications or operations workflows Soft Skills: * Strong delivery ownership and accountability * Excellent client-facing communication skills * Ability to work in complex, multi-cloud environments * Problem-solving mindset with hands-on execution approach Experience Requirements: * 7+ years in cloud engineering / application modernization * Proven track record in end-to-end modernization projects * Experience in multi-cloud environments (AWS + Alibaba preferred) * Prior experience in migration projects at scale Nice to Have: * Certifications in AWS / Alibaba Cloud / Kubernetes * Experience with service mesh (Istio, etc.) * Knowledge of DevSecOps practices What We Expect: This is a delivery-heavy role, not just architecture or advisory.
