Technical Manager - Construction

Technical Management Oversee all technical and engineering activities for ongoing construction projects. Review and approve technical drawings, design calculations, specifications, and engineering documents. Ensure compliance with contract requirements, project specifications, and applicable codes and standards. Review structural, architectural, civil, and MEP design coordination. Identify technical risks and propose appropriate engineering solutions. Provide technical guidance and support to project managers and site engineers. Ensure constructability and value engineering are considered during project execution. B. Design and Drawing Coordination Coordinate with consultants, architects, structural engineers, and MEP consultants. Review shop drawings, construction drawings, and as-built drawings. Ensure timely submission and approval of shop drawings and material submittals. Resolve design discrepancies and technical conflicts. Manage Requests for Information (RFIs) and technical clarifications. Ensure proper coordination between all engineering disciplines. C. Project Execution and Site Support Provide technical support to project teams during construction. Monitor construction methodologies and ensure compliance with approved drawings. Attend technical meetings with clients, consultants, and subcontractors. Resolve site technical issues and engineering challenges. Review and approve method statements and technical procedures. Support project teams in planning and executing complex construction activities. D. Quality Assurance and Quality Control Ensure construction activities comply with approved specifications and quality standards. Coordinate with QA/QC teams regarding inspection and testing requirements. Review Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs). Monitor technical non-conformities and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Ensure materials and construction systems comply with project specifications. Support quality audits and technical inspections. E. Value Engineering and Cost Optimization Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimization. Evaluate alternative materials, construction methods, and engineering solutions. Review technical proposals from suppliers and subcontractors. Recommend cost-effective solutions without compromising quality, safety, or performance. Support procurement teams in technical evaluations and material selection. F. Authority and Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with applicable local authority regulations and building codes. Coordinate technical approvals and NOCs with relevant authorities. Ensure designs and construction activities meet statutory requirements. Coordinate with third-party specialists and regulatory agencies where required. G. Team Management and Leadership Lead and manage the technical and engineering team. Assign responsibilities and monitor team performance. Provide technical training, coaching, and mentoring. Establish technical review and approval procedures. Ensure effective communication between design, procurement, construction, and project management teams. H. Documentation and Reporting Monitor technical submittal registers and approval status. Maintain technical documentation and engineering records. Prepare technical progress reports for management. Monitor drawing approval schedules and outstanding RFIs. Ensure proper control and distribution of the latest approved drawings.

Desired Candidate Profile

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline. Master's degree in Engineering or Project Management is an advantage. Minimum 10–15 years of experience in the construction industry. Minimum 3–5 years in a Technical Manager or equivalent senior engineering position. Experience in high-rise buildings, commercial buildings, infrastructure, or other relevant construction projects. Strong knowledge of engineering standards, construction practices, and building regulations. Experience in design coordination, technical submissions, and construction management.
