Architecture Technical Office Section Head

• Manage the architectural technical office workload across assigned project parts / projects, allocating engineers and draftsmen to shop drawing packages / BIM in line with the approved construction programme and its look-ahead priorities. • Review and endorse architectural shop drawings / BIM — finishing layouts, façade and cladding details, joinery, false ceiling, flooring setting-out, and wet area details — before submission to the Consultant, verifying compliance with the issued-for-construction drawings, project specifications, and applicable Egyptian codes / project references’ codes/standards. • Consolidate and control the architectural submittal register log for drawings, materials, and mock-ups, tracking Consultant comments and closure dates and escalating approval delays that threaten the programme to the Technical Office Department Manager and the Project Manager. • Review architectural material submittals and technical data sheets against the specification clauses, and coordinate with Procurement on approved-equal alternatives, sample approvals, and delivery lead times. • Manage the resolution of design discrepancies by preparing and tracking RFIs / RFPs to the Consultant and recording approved answers in the drawing revision history and the affected packages, and provide the technical issue for variation orders, revise shop drawings accordingly. • Coordinate the architectural interface with the structural, MEP, and BIM teams so that issued shop drawings reflect the coordinated federated model and closed clash records. • Review quantity take-offs and BOQ back-up prepared for architectural packages, and validate the quantities supporting subcontractor payment applications and the project's interim payment certificates (IPCs). • Lead constructability and value engineering reviews of architectural details, quantify the cost and programme impact of proposed alternatives, and present recommendations to the Technical Office Department Manager. • Review specialist subcontractor and supplier drawings — aluminium and curtain wall, gypsum works, joinery, stone and cladding — for compliance with the architectural design intent and interface requirements. • Monitor the section's output indicators — submittal turnaround time, first-time approval rate, and drawing rework — and report status and corrective actions monthly. • Maintain the section's document control discipline in accordance with the company QMS, covering drawing numbering, revision control, transmittals, and controlled distribution to site. • Support site management with technical clarifications, setting-out references, and architectural details required to release work fronts and resolve execution queries, and assure the site follow the latest shop drawings revision, and latest modifications if any. • Manage the compilation and handover of architectural as-built drawings and close-out documentation at project completion. • Develop the section's engineers through structured work allocation, technical review feedback, on-the-job coaching, and input to the annual performance assessment cycle.

Desired Candidate Profile

Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering is required. Minimum 10 years of experience in architectural technical office or design management within contracting, of which 3+ years supervising a technical office team on large building projects. Egyptian Engineers Syndicate membership is required. Autodesk Revit certification is preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an advantage. Training in value engineering or construction contracts is an advantage.
