Automation Engineer (PLC/SCADA)
Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Role Summary We’re seeking a hands-on Automation Engineer to program, commission, and support industrial control systems across customer sites. The ideal candidate has 2–3+ years of experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric, or Mitsubishi Electric platforms, solid PLC/SCADA skills, and is flexible for site work and travel. Key Responsibilities Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC logic and HMI/SCADA screens. Commission systems on-site: I/O checks, loop tuning, FAT/SAT, and start-up support. Integrate instruments, drives, and third-party equipment; diagnose field issues. Prepare technical documentation (FDS, FAT/SAT reports, as-built drawings). Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards during design and commissioning. Provide end-user training and post-go-live support. Desired Candidate Profile Must-Have Qualifications B-Tech- Electrical and Electronics, Electrical or Instrumentation Experience: 2–3+ years in industrial automation. Platforms (at least one, ideally multiple): o Siemens (S7-300/400/1200/1500, TIA Portal/Step 7, WinCC) o Allen-Bradley/Rockwell (Compact/ControlLogix, Studio 5000/RSLogix, FactoryTalk View) o Schneider Electric (Modicon, EcoStruxure/Unity Pro, Citect/AVEVA) o Mitsubishi Electric (Q/iQ-R/FX series, GX Works, GOT HMI) Core Skills: PLC programming, SCADA/HMI configuration, panel/device troubleshooting, and instrumentation (sensors, transmitters, control valves, calibration, PID). Industrial Comms: PROFINET/PROFIBUS, EtherNet/IP, Modbus (RTU/TCP), OPC/OPC UA. Drives & Motion: VFDs/servos setup and commissioning. Documentation Tools: AutoCAD/EPLAN (reading & basic edits). Work Mode: Willingness to attend site works, overtime/weekends if required, and travel as needed. Education: Diploma/Bachelor’s in Electrical/Instrumentation/Mechatronics (or equivalent). Soft Skills: Strong troubleshooting, clear communication, and customer-facing professionalism. Nice to Have • Safety standards (IEC 61131-3, IEC 61511/61508), risk assessments. • Historians/MES/IIoT (Ignition, AVEVA, Kepware), SQL basics, scripting (Python/VB). • Experience in water/WTP/WWTP, FMCG, pharma, oil & gas, or manufacturing plants. • Valid driving license and passport for regional travel. Work Conditions • Field commissioning at customer sites; mix of office and on-site work. • PPE adherence and HSE compliance mandatory.
