Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Job Title: Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) Faculty of Science and Technology (Specializations: Computer Science, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Software Engineering) Job Summary: This is a teaching support-focused position to assist in the delivery of undergraduate, practical-based programmes within the Faculty of Science and Technology. Applicants should demonstrate strong academic ability and an interest in teaching and student support. The successful candidate is expected to: Support Teaching Activities: Assist in delivering tutorials, laboratory sessions, and workshops across computing-related modules. Assist in Practical Sessions: Provide hands-on support during labs and technical sessions to ensure students understand key concepts and tools. Support Student Learning: Guide students in understanding technical concepts such as programming, systems, data handling, and security principles. Assist in Assessment: Support marking of assignments, quizzes, and coursework under supervision, ensuring timely and constructive feedback. Prepare Learning Materials: Assist in preparing teaching resources, presentations, and lab materials. Support Academic Delivery: Help ensure smooth delivery of modules by coordinating with lecturers and technical staff. Engage in Academic Development: Develop teaching and technical expertise while contributing to a high-quality learning environment. Administrative Support: Assist with attendance tracking, documentation, and coordination of academic activities. Requirements: The faculty invites applications from suitable candidates for GTA positions. The role requires: Educational Qualifications: A Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, or a related field. Subject Knowledge: Knowledge in one or more of the following: Computer Science (Programming, Software Development, Algorithms) Information Technology (Systems, Networking, IT Support) Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning Data Science / Data Analytics Cybersecurity / Network Security / Digital Forensics Academic Performance: Good academic standing with a strong GPA. Technical Skills: Programming (e.g., Python, Java, C#, or similar) Databases (e.g., SQL, MySQL) Basic networking and cybersecurity concepts Data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Python libraries) Teaching Interest: Demonstrated interest in teaching, mentoring, or academic support. Technical Skills: Practical computing skills relevant to the discipline. Communication Skills: Ability to explain concepts clearly and effectively to students. Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with faculty members and students. Adaptability: Willingness to learn and support different modules as required. Responsibilities: Support tutorials, labs, and workshops across Computer Science and IT-related modules. Assist students with programming, databases, networking, and technical problem-solving. Help students understand key concepts such as algorithms, system design, data processing, and cybersecurity principles. Assist in preparing lab environments, datasets, and technical resources. Support marking of assignments, coding tasks, and lab reports under supervision. Ensure smooth operation of lab sessions and troubleshoot basic technical issues. Support online learning platforms (e.g., LMS, Microsoft Teams). Monitor student attendance, participation, and engagement. Liaise with lecturers and technical staff for effective module delivery. Assist in supervising student projects where required. Maintain academic integrity and professional conduct.
