Product Owner (Core Banking)

Job Description Roles & Responsibilities We are seeking an exceptional Product Owner Core Banking to own the platform at the centre of the bank: the core banking system, the general ledger, treasury, pricing, and the Shariah structures that make our products compliant. This is the layer every other product sits on no deposit is held, no profit is paid, and no financing is booked without your systems recording it correctly. This is a rare opportunity to own a live core banking platform and turn it into a launchpad. Our core banking infrastructure is in place; the work now is to evolve it wiring in tooling, building in automation and and the commodity broker integration that unlocks Shariah-compliant product launches across the UAE, US, UK, EU, and South-East Asia. You won't inherit a decades-old mainframe and babysit it. You'll shape a modern core into the engine that lets the rest of the bank ship. Core Banking System (CBS) Product configuration, parameterisation, and lifecycle on the core banking platform; the financial system of record for accounts, balances, and transactions General Ledger Integration and management of the GL: chart of accounts, posting rules, financial event mapping, and the accuracy of every entry the core generates Treasury Treasury connectivity and the feeds that support liquidity, positions, and profit distribution across the book Pricing The pricing engine and configuration: profit rates, fees, tiers, and the parameters that govern what customers earn and pay Shariah Commodity Integration The commodity broker integration that enables commodity murabaha / tawarruq structures, unlocking the launch of all relevant Shariah-compliant product types Reconciliation & Financial Integrity Controls that keep the ledger, sub-ledgers, CBS, and downstream systems in agreement, with breaks surfaced and resolved Core Integration Layer The integration and orchestration between the CBS and surrounding systems (payments, cards, lending, onboarding), with resilience and clean financial event flow AI-Native Core Operations Reconciliation copilots, posting-anomaly detection, and intelligent tooling that protect ledger integrity and cut manual finance-ops effort Commodity broker integration live integrate the commodity broker into the core, enabling commodity murabaha / tawarruq flows and unlocking the launch of the relevant Shariah-compliant product types. GL integration and mapping chart of accounts and posting rules mapped from the core through to downstream finance and reconciliation, so financial events post correctly and completely. Pricing engine configured profit rates, fees, and tiers set up in the pricing engine for live and launching products. Reconciliation controls ledger-to-subledger and CBS-to-downstream reconciliation controls in place, with breaks surfaced and an owner for resolution. Desired Candidate Profile 7+ years in product management, with a meaningful portion spent owning core banking, ledger, treasury, or banking platform domains Core banking experience at a digital bank, core banking vendor, or banking platform you've configured and shipped products on a core banking system, not just consumed it from the outside Deep core banking domain knowledge you understand core banking product configuration, double-entry and general ledger mechanics, chart of accounts and posting models, reconciliation, pricing/profit mechanics, and how treasury connects to the book Squad-level ownership you've run a cross-functional team without a scrum master, owning backlog, ceremonies, and delivery accountability directly AI-powered workflow you actively use AI tools (coding assistants, LLM-based research, automation) to multiply your productivity and expect to push that further Technical fluency you can read an API spec, reason about financial event models and integration patterns, and hold your own in architecture discussions with senior engineers Integration experience you've integrated a core banking system with surrounding platforms (payments, GL, treasury, or third-party providers) and know where these integrations break Hunger you are not coasting.
