Reefer Technician - (Refrigerated Transport)

Job Description Roles & Responsibilities Inspection and Preventive Maintenance Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on Thermo King and Carrier refrigeration units. Inspect compressors, condensers, evaporators, belts, filters, hoses, and electrical components. Check refrigerant levels and identify leaks. Maintain service records and maintenance reports. Diagnosis and Troubleshooting Diagnose refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical faults using diagnostic tools. Read and interpret Thermo King TKDL and Carrier diagnostic codes. Troubleshoot temperature control issues, engine failures, and sensor malfunctions. Identify root causes of breakdowns and implement corrective actions. Repair and Overhaul Repair or replace faulty compressors, alternators, controllers, sensors, and wiring. Overhaul diesel engines used in reefer units. Repair refrigeration circuits, evaporators, condensers, and cooling systems. Carry out welding and fabrication work when required. 4. Electrical and Electronic Systems Test batteries, charging systems, relays, and electronic controllers. Diagnose CAN bus communication faults and microprocessor control systems. Install and calibrate temperature sensors and data loggers. Refrigeration System Work Recover, recharge, and handle refrigerants according to safety regulations. Perform pressure testing and vacuuming of refrigeration systems. Ensure units maintain required temperatures for frozen and chilled cargo. Emergency Breakdown Support Attend roadside breakdowns and emergency service calls. Provide quick fault diagnosis and repair to minimize vehicle downtime. Coordinate with fleet operations for service scheduling. Compliance and Safety Follow UAE HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) regulations. Use PPE and handle refrigerants safely. Ensure repairs comply with Thermo King and Carrier manufacturer standards. Documentation Prepare job cards, service reports, and inspection checklists. Maintain spare parts consumption records. Update maintenance management systems (CMMS/Fleet Software). Fleet Support Support refrigerated trucks, trailers, and container reefer units. Conduct pre-delivery inspections and commissioning of new reefer equipment. Train drivers on proper operation of refrigeration units. Desired Candidate Profile Required Skills Strong knowledge of Thermo King and Carrier refrigeration systems. Experience in diesel engines, electrical systems, and HVAC refrigeration. Ability to use diagnostic software and service tools. Understanding of refrigeration principles and temperature-controlled transport. Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Experience Required: Typically 2-10 years of Thermo King or Carrier reefer maintenance experience.
