Software Engineer — Product Engineering (E-Commerce)

Core Engineering ● 6+ years of professional experience building production web applications ● Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL — comfortable writing migrations, query objects, service objects, and background jobs ● Solid experience with React / Next.js (App Router, Server Components) and TypeScript ● Familiarity with RESTful API design, versioning strategies, and serialization patterns ● Experience with Sidekiq or equivalent background job processing at scale (queue prioritization, retries, cron scheduling) ● Comfortable working with Redis for caching, rate-limiting, and distributed locking AI-Augmented Development ● Proficient in coding with AI tools — uses LLM-based coding assistants (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, or similar) as a daily part of the development workflow, not just for autocomplete but for architecture reasoning, debugging, code review, and test generation ● Comfortable using AI to accelerate unfamiliar territory — e.g., picking up a new library, understanding legacy code, or exploring architectural trade-offs Product & E-Commerce Domain ● Hands-on experience with order lifecycle management — cart, checkout, payment capture, fulfillment, returns ● Familiarity with payment gateway integrations including tokenization, webhooks, and PCI considerations ● Understanding of shipping & logistics workflows — carrier rate-shopping, label generation, tracking ● Comfort with multi-market / multi-currency platforms — i18n, locale-aware pricing, geo-based routing Architecture & Infrastructure ● Experience with modular monolith or Rails Engines architecture — isolating bounded contexts within a shared codebase ● Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), and CI/CD pipelines (Buildkite, GitHub Actions) ● Understanding of observability — structured logging, error tracking (Sentry), and APM (New Relic) ● Experience with CDN-backed asset delivery and frontend performance optimization (Core Web Vitals) Testing & Quality ● Strong testing discipline — RSpec for backend, Playwright or Cypress for E2E, factory-based test data (FactoryBot) ● Familiarity with code quality tooling: Rubocop, ESLint, Prettier, Stylelint Desired Candidate Profile ● Experience with ML/AI in e-commerce — product classification, recommendation engines ● Familiarity with SWR for client-side data fetching and Material UI component libraries ● Experience with state machines (AASM) for complex entity lifecycles ● Knowledge of cross-border e-commerce logistics ● Familiarity with AWS services — S3, CloudFront, DynamoDB, Lambda Employment Type Full-time
