ECommerce Executive
Job Overview
Role mandate Act as the founder’s right hand and take end-to-end ownership of business execution, commercial development and improvement. Turn the founder’s vision into a weekly plan, make delegated decisions, identify gaps early and coordinate suppliers, marketing, accounting, logistics and technology so that the business grows responsibly. This is a managerial role with broad commercial responsibility; it does not confer a director title or statutory authority. Accountability means following an issue through to resolution, verifying the result and preventing recurrence. Delegating to an agency does not remove responsibility for the outcome. The manager must challenge assumptions respectfully, recommend actions with evidence and move approved work forward without repeated reminders. Required profile Proven hands-on experience running ecommerce trading and operations, ideally 5 or more years with commercial ownership, Shopify and a fashion or multi-brand business. Evidence of launching or growing a lean business matters more than a title. Ability to interpret contribution margin, acquisition cost, stock productivity and cash needs; negotiate supplier and partner terms; build customer and partnership pipelines; lead people and agencies. Strong initiative, sound judgment, spreadsheet/reporting ability, clear customer communication and documented examples of diagnosing gaps and delivering measurable improvements. Success in this role The founder spends more time on strategic relationships and less time chasing execution. Customers receive dependable service, stock and cash records reconcile, growth tests produce useful evidence, supplier opportunities advance and issues are addressed before they become repeated failures. Defined scope of work Commercial planning and business development Own the 90-day execution plan and monthly trading forecast. Build qualified supplier, referral, corporate gifting, collaboration and sales-partnership opportunities consistent with a polos-focused business. Research demand and competitors, prioritize opportunities by contribution and effort, negotiate proposals and track them to activation or a documented decision. Supplier coordination and buying execution Maintain supplier pipeline, availability, terms, lead times, authenticity documents and PO status. Prepare landed-cost and margin comparisons, follow up production and replenishment, resolve delivery discrepancies and coordinate private label milestones. Negotiate within the approved brief; obtain approval before commitments outside delegated limits. Awareness acquisition and retention Own the integrated growth plan across content, paid media, creators, partnerships and CRM. Brief and challenge agencies, ensure stock and landing pages support campaigns, review qualified traffic and conversion, and propose spending changes using contribution evidence. Build consented customer relationships and repeat-purchase activity. Awareness must lead to useful visits and customer intent, not only impressions. Shopify trading and customer experience Own merchandising, catalogue accuracy, price and promotion execution, search/filter quality, mobile customer journey, checkout tests and technical backlog. Ensure inquiries, delivery promises, returns and complaints are handled consistently. Use customer feedback and return reasons to improve fit guidance, products and service. Logistics inventory and service partners Manage 3PL and courier SLAs, receiving, storage, order transmission, fulfilment, delivery exceptions, returns and stock counts. Audit partner output and invoices, pursue claims and verify corrective action. Maintain backup arrangements for critical failures. Accounts cash and business controls Ensure purchases, receipts, sales, supplier/customer returns, refunds and stock adjustments reach the accountant completely and promptly. Review reconciliations and monthly accounts, question variances and track cash commitments. Coordinate filing readiness with the qualified accountant; the founder retains payment and reserved financial approvals. Team leadership and continuous improvement Set priorities, distribute work, coach the Content and Ecommerce Executive and hold vendors to commitments. Maintain SOPs, ownership and deadlines; arrange coverage. Keep a gap and opportunity register and run low-cost tests for growth, customer experience and efficiency, including practical automation.
